NYC thieves captured on video taking bulletproof vests meant for Ukraine

Surveillance video exhibits hoodie-wearing thieves openly steal bulletproof vests meant for Ukraine, loading cardboard packing containers into vans and driving off.

Two vans — one white and one black — pull as much as the East Village constructing that homes the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and the Ukrainian Nationwide Girls’s League of America, in accordance with the video, shot Tuesday and obtained by The Publish.

Males with masks and hoodies exit a white van round 10 p.m. and stroll forwards and backwards with the packing containers from the constructing at 203 Second Ave. to the car, the video confirmed. One field was so giant it wanted two folks to hold it out.

Passersby had been seen strolling down the block with out giving the thieves a second look.

One other van pulled up about an hour later to ferry away extra packing containers.

The vests had been saved in a constructing hallway. The nonprofit organizations are amassing donations to assist the warfare effort in Ukraine.

The theft was found Wednesday morning and about 400 vests had been taken, in accordance with the NYPD.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Workplace had donated used vests to assist the Ukrainian teams however it wasn’t clear whether or not these had been the vests taken.
