Man arrested on hate crimes for smashing NYC church windows

A person accused of smashing within the home windows of a Queens church with an enormous stick has been busted on hate crime costs, police revealed Sunday.
Tonnie Smith, 32, was taken into custody over the assault on the Neighborhood Church of Christ in Jamaica earlier this month.
The Queens man was charged with prison mischief as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, cops stated.


Police had been looking Smith ever since he was caught on surveillance cameras allegedly breaking two glass home windows on the entrance of the church on 108th Avenue simply earlier than 1:30 a.m. on March 8.
The footage confirmed shards of glass flying from each home windows within the aftermath.
Smith then fled on foot, in accordance with cops.


The suspect solely lives a couple of blocks away from the church, police stated.
A motive for the assault wasn’t instantly clear.
