Iranian police have launched an investigation into the loss of life of a Swiss diplomat whose physique a rescue official said was found Tuesday morning on the foot of a tower block.
“Specialised police items are within the means of inspecting” the circumstances throughout the loss of life of a “52-year-old Swiss citizen employed by the Swiss embassy in Tehran,” the nationwide police said in a brief on-line assertion.
Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesman for the nationwide rescue service, said that the physique was found throughout the morning after the diplomat “fell from a (residential) tower in Kamranieh,” a northern district of Tehran.
Khaledi instructed AFP that the diplomat lived throughout the tower block and had fallen from the seventeenth floor.
In a message to AFP’s Geneva workplace, Switzerland’s abroad ministry confirmed that “a Swiss worker of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran died in a deadly incident on Tuesday”.
The Swiss embassy in Iran was in touch with native authorities over the matter, the ministry added.
The Swiss embassy handles US pursuits in Iran, since ties between Washington and Tehran have been scale back throughout the aftermath of the 1979 Islamic revolution.
