Driver arrested in fatal hit-and-run of Jonathan Martinez

A driver was busted Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash that left a 5-year-old lifeless in Queens earlier this month, cops mentioned.

Xavier Carchipull, 40, was arrested round 6 a.m. at his thirty third Avenue residence in Queens and charged with leaving the scene leading to demise, aggravated unlicensed operator, working a motorized vehicle with out inspection, working a motorized vehicle with out insurance coverage and working an unregistered automobile, cops mentioned.

He was allegedly behind the wheel of a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driving on McIntosh Avenue when he struck little Jonathan Martinez whereas trying to make a left flip round 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1, police mentioned.

Jonathan was crossing the road along with his father and siblings on the time. He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital however died from his accidents.

The boy’s heartbroken father pleaded with the motive force to show himself in throughout an interview with The Publish after the crash.

“I forgive you, we’re human. All I ask [is] flip your self in to authorities. Inform them it was you, that it was a mistake, no matter,” Richard Martinez mentioned in Spanish.

“You’ve got taken a chunk of my coronary heart … my youngster was harmless and had an entire future forward of him.”
